Help for Reviewers

Use the instructions below if you are submitting a peer review to Health Affairs. All reviews must be submitted via Health Affairsonline peer-review system.

You must have a user account before you can participate in online peer review. If you have a user account, log in using your user ID and password at the login screen. If you have forgotten your user ID or password, go to the login screen, enter your e-mail address in the “Password Help” field, then click on “Go.” Your user ID and password will be e-mailed to you.

Access The Paper And Reviewer Forms

Once you have logged in, click on “ Reviewer Center,” then locate the paper under “Review and Score.” Here you will be able to view the paper (“View Submission”), see your review’s due date, and access reviewer forms (“View Details”).

Submit Your Review

You will see several tabs on the “View Details” page (you can access the manuscript files from any of these tabs). To submit your review, select the “Score Sheet” tab, fill out the forms and write comments for editors and authors (note that there are separate areas for each), and click “Submit” at the bottom of the page. You do not have to complete your review in one sitting. To save your work, make sure you click the “Save as Draft” button at the bottom of the page before exiting. You can access your review in progress at a later date by following the instructions above. You can also compose your comments off line, using any word processing or text editing program, then transfer them to the online review system by copying and pasting them into the appropriate fields.

We request that authors submit electronic versions of reviews that have been composed using a word processing or text editing program. If you have made handwritten comments on the manuscript itself that you wish to share with authors, please mail us the original (handwritten comments are not always legible via fax).
