Senate Finance Committee Chair Max Baucus Discusses Health Reform At Health Affairs Breakfast Briefing

The United States is considering the most extensive reform of its health care system since the creation of Medicare and Medicaid. In the Senate, the Finance and Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committees plan to mark-up reform legislation in early June.

At an April 24 Health Affairs breakfast briefing at the National Press Club, Senate Finance Committee Chair Max Baucus (D-MT) discussed the outlook for health reform legislation. Sen. Baucus also discussed the major issues involved in the reform debate, such as the role of a public-plan option in a new insurance marketplace.
