Name of initiative: Merck Alliance to Reduce Disparities in Diabetes
Funder: Merck Company Foundation
Purpose of initiative: This initiative’s goal is “to address the growing problem of health care disparities in the context of Type 2 diabetes in the United States among minority, low-income, and underserved adult populations.” Through this initiative, the Alliance aims to help decrease such disparities and to enhance quality of care “by improving diabetes prevention and management services.” Also, the foundation says that “the intent is to build on and expand” diabetes or health care disparities programs or to create new programs.
