Health Affairs Content Submissions
Health Affairs Journal
Papers must be submitted via our online manuscript processing system. Submitting authors should be prepared at the time of submission to provide institutional information on their coauthors, sources of support for the work, information on meeting presentations, along with other relevant disclosures.
Potential articles, as well as follow-up correspondence, may be submitted via our simple submission form (first-time users will need to create an account with name, email, and password).
Health Affairs Scholar: Emerging & Global Health Policy
Health Affairs Scholar is a peer-reviewed fully open access journal published in partnership with Oxford University Press. Full author instructions and the link to Scholar's online submission system are available on the Health Affairs Scholar site.
If you want to propose a guest for a Health Affairs podcast, please share a brief bio of the person, what topics they are interested in speaking on, and in which podcast category they are interested.
Health Affairs hosts events that bring together a diverse audience from the public and private sectors, academia, and media to share insightful conversations on the latest policy topics affecting health care today.

Podcast submission status
A member of the Health Affairs team will reach out to you if your podcast submission has been reviewed and accepted. Based on the volume of interest, we may not respond to every submission.
Brief submission status
A member of the Health Affairs editorial team will reach out to you if they are interested in further exploring your Health Policy Brief proposal.
Our Process
Submission
Health Affairs submission requirements vary by content type.
Review
Each submission, if approved, goes through a rigorous peer-review and/or editorial review process for adherence to submission guidelines.
Revision
You will have a chance to work closely with Health Affairs editors or podcast producers during the content revision process to ensure high-quality output of your content.
Approval
After the revision process, Health Affairs editors or podcast producers will inform you of approval and timing of publication.
Copy Editing & Production
The final approved content will be copy-edited for clarity and will adhere to the editorial style guide standards and other production standards as set out by Health Affairs.
Journal Submissions
Health Affairs Journal publishes about 300 articles and 2,300 pages per year on a monthly basis, with several ahead of print articles each month. Our impact factor in 2022 was 9.700.

Health Affairs Forefront (formerly Blog) publishes over 600 posts per year, and multiple posts daily. All Health Affairs Forefront articles are reviewed by Health Affairs editorial staff for timeliness, health policy relevance, originality, and constructive commentary (but are not subject to a formal, peer review).
